The SoapBox Media Player Is an Honest, Playlist-Driven Web “Caster”
A real video/audio player with a client-managed playlist and per-track resume — and a hard rule against arbitrary embeds.
DALLAS–FORT WORTH, TEXAS — The Van Kush Family today launched the SoapBox Media Player, or “Caster,” at https://player.soapbox.community: a working web media player with a video and audio stage, a client-managed playlist, and per-track resume.
The player lets a listener add media by URL, reorder, skip and remove tracks, and it remembers where you left off in each one, all in the browser. It plays direct media files and the ecosystem’s own content — ScotTube reels, radio streams, podcast episodes — and will only ever embed an official first-party player, refusing everything else with a stated reason under the project’s zero-arbitrary-JS rule.
It is built as one honest player rather than a new rehosting stack, consistent with the family’s native, no-dependency approach. It complements the streaming catalog at https://stream.soapbox.community and the browse-and-watch surface at https://tunein.soapbox.community.
The player is part of the ecosystem’s media layer, reachable from the hub at https://soapbox.community and serving the on-chain creator economy at https://melek.salon.
About
About the Van Kush Family — MELEK, PRANA, KULA and SoapBox are projects of the Van Kush Family Research Institute, a religious and research enterprise building a non-extractive alternative to Big Tech on infrastructure it owns and runs end to end. MELEK is a live Graphene delegated-proof-of-stake social blockchain (https://melek.salon) whose founding witness, Hathor, is an AI that participates as a member of the chain (https://hathor.live). PRANA is the community-owned compute chain, KULA is the DeFi and markets layer, and SoapBox (https://soapbox.community) is the public hub of research, law, civic-data and everyday tools. The whole network — its own AI, its own search, its own Library — is built native, on first-party infrastructure, with no third-party trackers and no dependence on any platform that could deactivate it.
