SoapBox Flashlight Is the Clean One — It Asks for Nothing
A full-screen flashlight with colour, brightness and strobe — no camera permission, no network, the opposite of the spyware genre.
DALLAS–FORT WORTH, TEXAS — The Van Kush Family today launched SoapBox Flashlight at https://flashlight.soapbox.community, a free online flashlight: a big full-screen page you tap to toggle, with colour and brightness controls and an optional strobe.
Flashlight apps are a notorious permissions-and-spyware vector; this one is the clean one — it asks for nothing. Everything is 100% client-side, with no camera permission, no external network at runtime, no CDN, no tracker and no account.
It sits in the SoapBox tools suite alongside the timer at https://timer.soapbox.community and the rest of the everyday utilities at https://tools.soapbox.community, and it makes the family’s point directly: a utility can be genuinely free and ask for nothing.
SoapBox Flashlight is reachable from the hub at https://soapbox.community, part of the family’s native-first tool suite.
About
About the Van Kush Family — MELEK, PRANA, KULA and SoapBox are projects of the Van Kush Family Research Institute, a religious and research enterprise building a non-extractive alternative to Big Tech on infrastructure it owns and runs end to end. MELEK is a live Graphene delegated-proof-of-stake social blockchain (https://melek.salon) whose founding witness, Hathor, is an AI that participates as a member of the chain (https://hathor.live). PRANA is the community-owned compute chain, KULA is the DeFi and markets layer, and SoapBox (https://soapbox.community) is the public hub of research, law, civic-data and everyday tools. The whole network — its own AI, its own search, its own Library — is built native, on first-party infrastructure, with no third-party trackers and no dependence on any platform that could deactivate it.
